Campus Golm

Here there are several activities taking place all over the year. There are three Max Planck Institutes: the MPI of Colloids and Interfaces, the MPI for Gravitational Physics, and the MPI for Molecular Plant Physiology all of them contributing to the great diversity of people and research interests represented here.

In Golm we have also two Fraunhofer Institutes: the FI for Applied Polymenr Research, and the FI for Biomedical Engineering. In addition to that we have almost all natural sciences department of the University of Potsdam and several small companies are joining the campus as well.

Within the research campus in Golm, in the middle of the three MPI there is a central building with a canteen for lunch and there are big seminar rooms for conferences. Within the MPI of Colloids and Interfaces there are four departments and several seminar rooms and a library.

Beside an excellent and international work atmosphere, there are plenty of other social activities.

In the campus there is a small football field, which belongs to the MPI of Colloids and Interfaces. Every week there are fixed appointments where everybody gather on there to play football together. Every year there are one or two tournaments where teams from different institutes dispute the campus cup to finish with a big BBQ open air party.

Every second year the various institutes together organize an open day, where people curious about science can visit the institute and talk with the scientist during a whole day on one, typically sunny, weekend.

The MPI of Colloids and Interfaces organizes every year an Institute Party where we talk both about the recent scientific progresses and we gather together to have some fun with music and BBQ.
